The Forum Links Up with Europe.

Issues affecting the elderly are not unique to Britain. They need addressing Europe-wide. Click here to find out more.

A link to Lansley being told what is what here . Sorry about the ad. at the start. And more on June Hautot and her protest, plus other links.

Get the "Health and Social Services Bill" debated again in Parliament - and perhaps dropped this time.
A "Direct Gov" petition to sign that simply calls on the Government to drop the Bill - a slightly long-winded process as they check you are human and haven't signed before but please follow the link, give your details, respond to the e-mail they send and add your voice to the cry against this misguided legislation.
Now up to over 150,000 - but still collecting signatures so not a waste of time to "sign" it.

There is also a second one, still way down the list, calling upon Lansley to disclose the Risk Register document here.

And here is a document that can be sent to friends and relatives, with a three part strategy for defeating the bill and a link to a very telling message from a local doctor.
The next step has to be to get friends and relatives living outside London to persuade their own MPs - even the Lib.Dems. and true-blue Tories, that Part III at least of the Bill is a disaster for the NHS - and for any party that lets it go through.

A page of useful and/or interesting links. here

Consider also the report into the companies that would be the prime providers of services under the proposed regime. Download a link here and a pdf here.
This report has been commissioned by the NHS Federation, a campaiging organisation, and so might be argued by some to be biassed in reaching its conclusions, but it would not be able to present the underlying facts if they were unfounded.

Postponed to the summer, but do get in touch if you would like to be notified of any new date.

And information on a travel grant for WWII veterans

Ted Cathcart of the 49 Squadron Association writes

BIG LOTTERY FUND GRANTS FOR VETERANS TO RETURN TO THEIR THEATRE OF WAR NOW EXTENDED TO THE END OF 2012
I am writing to you on behalf of World War II veterans who, due to a lack of advertising, may not have been aware that in 2011 financial grants, Heroes Return II, were available from the Big Lottery Fund to enable veterans to pay a visit of remembrance to the theatre of war that they were involved in.
Veterans, male or female, widows, and widowers of veterans, can all apply. The offer also extends to Merchant Seamen, as well as WAAF's, WREN's and ATS who worked closely with active personnel.
It appears that the number of veterans claiming these grants were far less than anticipated resulting in these grants being extended during 2012. It would be extremely helpful if you can find space in your publication to make these details known so that veterans, who will now be aged 85 and over, may still take advantage of these grants and plan a visit. There is a further grant available (where required) for an accompanying carer.
The grants range from £150 to cover travel and accommodation for veteran, spouse and carer, within the UK, £1,300 to Northern Europe and £5.500 to the Far East.
As I have received a grant for a visit I made last December, I would be more than willing to advise any of your readers on how and where to claim..
It would also be most helpful, and if you have time and space, to reproduce this letter on your web edition.
